It's time to switch to a new train of thought.

 

It’s pretty easy to get snagged on a thought, but the worst thing is to get snagged on an old repetitive, sh!tty thought.  You know, the same old thoughts that drive the same old feelings?  They clog up your mental atmosphere and stop you from doing cool stuff.

At some point, enough is enough – it’s time to flick the switch.

Whether you are polluted by #procrastination, #self doubt, #frustration, #hesitation, #anxiety, #sadness, #sickness or spirals of #depression...

I dare you to catch the moment and turn it around. How?  Wake up in the present moment and make a new choice. 

NEOS is an acronym: 

Negative. Emission. Offset. Switch. 

Perfectly, NEOS in Greek means ‘new’.

 When you switch off a negative train of thought – you make the moment NEW.

NEOS is a game for your consciousness. It will assist you to break out of the old you, into the endless possibilities of an unhindered you.  Enjoy!

Pt1. POLLUTION

 You've been thinking a lot of thoughts, in fact you have around 70,000 thoughts a day! What are you thinking about? The real issue is that most of the thoughts we had yesterday are the same thoughts we are going to have today.  We are creatures of habit.

Most of our thoughts are on automatic pilot and are not always for our highest good.  Thoughts have the power to generate feelings/emotions and feelings/emotions make us think more of the same thoughts. And there you have the sneaky little looping cycle that keeps you stuck thinking the same thoughts and feeling the same feelings!

 The following is three step process to assist you to understand the negative thought pollution and fully identify the entire operation that takes place in your sub conscious.

 

1. NAME IT!

Name the vibe that pollutes you.

Ask yourself... "What vibe drags me down?"

(vibe = emotion, feeling, energy, etc.)

Don’t think too hard, just name the polluted vibe you feel too often.  Write it down.  

*Yes, there might be more than one. 

If you are having difficulty zeroing on on a name try finishing these sentences:

"I just feel so..."

"I wish I didn't feel so..." 

"Why am I so....?"

2. Stinkin' Thinkin'

What are the ‘bad’ ideas that go with the polluted vibe? You know, what crappy thoughts do you think as the pollution takes over?  There is always a commentary that is rampaging through your mind when you are feeling this vibe. What is the stream of thinking/words that spring from this #vibe?  For example:

#anxious

This isn't going to work out.

What if I run out of time?

I'm terrible at this.

I'm not going to make it.

I never feel normal.

I always get it wrong. 

#doubt

I'm not good enough.

I don't have time.

I won't be able to do that.

I've never done this before.

I don't succeed in things.

It never works out for me. 

#blame

Why does this happen to me?

They should know better.

They did this to me.

I am not supported.

People are really stupid.  

My parents made me like this

3. Unconscious Activities.

Identify what you DO when you feel this way and think these thoughts. What is the behaviour that kicks in so that you don't feel the pain? This is a really interesting part of understanding yourself, because often you partake in an activity without your conscious mind even thinking about it!  That's why we are unpacking all this pollution, because now that your attention is on all these different aspects of the same vibe, it can't sneak past your conscious mind so easily.  In other words – it will now be easier to catch yourself out. 

Examples of unconscious behaviours:

I bite my nails.

Devour half of the food in the fridge.

Seek out sugar.

I lock all the doors of my house. 

I turn on Netflix.

I surf social media for hours.

I take a pain killer

 

I smoke a cigarette.

I pour myself a drink.

I cross my arms and shut off.

I talk really loud.

I go to gaming.

I gamble online.

I watch porn.

I call a friend and gossip for a while.

Part 1. Pollution complete!

BRAVO! Now you have 100% interrogated the nature of this habitual thought and feeling pattern. It isn't always easy to look honestly at the shadow sides of self, but it is essential if you are to really create a strategy for your transformation.  

The sticky part is done! On to part 2.

 

Pt2. THE SOLUTION.

If you look in the opposite direction of the problem/pollution, you will find the energy of the solution.  But how do you start to feel a #vibe that you ‘can’t’ feel?  You have to get interested in it!

 

1. Name your new #vibe.

What #vibe do you wish you felt more often? Can you name it off the top of your head? 

In order to explore this further, talk to yourself about what vibe is actually missing.

I want to feel more...

I just wish I was...

Why can't I just be...

If I could just suddenly have a new quality in my personality I would choose...

And just like in the previous section where you maybe felt like you have a few different types negative vibes to deal with, in this section you may be attracted to a few different new #vibes. If you get confused and catch yourself obsessing over specifics, just pick something very general like #relief. It is a bit of a one hit wonder #vibe.  (#relief is basically feeling a little better than you did.)

2. Declaration – your new script.

You have named your new #vibe and now it is time to develop it into a neutralising off set declaration of glory!  Yes, it's going to be that good!  But don't worry, for now we are going to keep it very simple and just work on one powerful sentence. Remember, you are amazing at saying negative things to yourself, now it is time to learn how to say some useful things. It is time to use the Law of Attraction – correctly.  

With your new #vibe in mind, construct a statement which you will use to interrupt your negative train of thought and immediately pull your attention into a better place.

A question you can ask yourself to connect with this new language is:

If I was (enter your new #vibe here) what sort of things would I say to myself? 

EXAMPLES:

If I was #confident I would say things like:

Things always work out for me

All things are possible!

If I felt #trust I would say things like:

Life is working for me and not against me!

I am always in the right place at the right time. 

If I felt #worthy I would say things like:

I am worthy of good things happening in my life.

I deserve the love I am given.

If I felt #ease I would say things like:

 Everything happens in its own perfect timing.

I trust the process of life. 

WARNING!

This part can be a bit tricky, you might catch yourself freezing up because you don't know where to start. That feeling is the perfect indication that you are doing the right work! Here and NOWism!  You are so well rehearsed at the other script, but when it comes to speaking affirmatively about the possibilities – your muscle is weak.  This is why you are here!  To flex it! 

Have courage and be persistent! Find some words that feel like they match the new #vibe you have been exploring. You need just one epic phrase that you will use like sword when the time comes to flick the switch! 

Consider this statement to be like a short cut to the NOW; a mighty neutraliser to your mental pollution. It is a weapon of interruption! There is no right or wrong, just create something simple that feels right for you. It can be short and sweet or a little more descriptive – learn the phrase and have it ready to go!

 3. Activity. Walk the walk. Talk the talk.

So now if you were FEELING a new #vibe and THINKING a powerful new thought, how would that effect your behaviour? What would you be DOing?  How would your body change?  Thought and emotion creates posture in the body. 

Be creative when creating new behaviours/posture.  If you used to catch yourself out at the fridge comfort eating, commit to taking a brisk walk around the block. If you are used to shutting down, folding your arms and slouching etc., decide to deliberately shift your posture to a broad confident stance. This is the way you talk your body into aligning with the new reality.

NOW you have built your first NOWism tool to catch an old moment and make it new. NEOS. Negative Emission. Off Set. Switch.

You are moving through the day, suddenly that sh!t feeling washes over and pollution kicks in...

You know what to do....

You catch the moment and you say it loud... “SWiTCH!”

You make a new choice in the present moment.

NOW....

Direct your attention to a new vibe by declaring your neutralising statement.

Voila! you are on a new train of thought.

Bravo!

You just pruned some old synaptic connections and made new pathways in your brain.

Catching a moment and deliberately thinking in a different direction
takes practice and persistence.

It is a muscle. You just have to flex it.

Whether you need this switch to: make yourself get out of bed,

follow through on a great ideas,

speak up,
shut your mouth,
take a chance
or say ‘yes’ instead of ‘no’.

Bust out of the old you - and make this moment NEW.
